Ingeo Fiber Facts:

· It takes 30 to 50% less fossil fuel to produce the Ingeo fiber than it does to make the same amount of petroleum-based fiber.

·  Ingeo is made from corn, an annually renewable resource grown here in the Midwest.

The process to make Ingeo starts with cooking and simple fermentation of the yellow kernel of corn.   The resulting resin is called PLA and can then be spun &  processed into Ingeo.. The corn used to make Ingeo is “Number 2 Yellow Dent,” the most common corn variety.  The plant which processes the corn  requires 40,000 bushels of corn per day!
